Last Day @ Melbourne

The last one night in Melbourne, we moved out from the city to Crown Tower hotel. It’s not that we gonna gamble but we want to enjoy the hotel, the mall, and the view around it. So, we took some pictures with the back ground of Yarra river. Gosh! I love Melbourne, it’s so beautiful.

My only advice when you are visiting Melbourne: Try the cakes there, in cake-shops or in cafes. Most of them are good. I coudn’t resist them and I even broke my usual habits ( cutting out my sugar intake due to break-out chin)
Well, I hope my information about Melbourne in my last few posts are useful for all of you. Muaaaachhh….

MENYA, Melbourne

One of my favorite restaurant this holiday is Menya. First time, I went to the one in Melbourne Central. The second time, I went to the one at Elizabeth Street. So many people told me about this famous ox tongue, gyu tendon if I’m not mistaken. It’s cooked almost like Yoshinoya but it’s ox tongue. They were all good in average, but my favorite was the ramen. You know, I always noodle soup especially in a cold weather season :)

Sashimi salmon and tuna, jely-fish, sea-weed salad.

The ladies love going to the City for shopping where there were Myer, David Jones department stores and all the fashion brands around.

We were joking about this huge wallet statue, ” Hey, you dropped your wallet!” hahahahah.

Villa Romana

Lygon street is the little Italy in Melbourne where you can find lots of cafes and Italian restaurants. I found this place, Villa Romana based on the information from my niece’s friend. I wished We had more time to try the other restaurant since I love Italian food.

Well, the food’s great, nice environment and very friendly waiters. When the food’s coming, our kids attacked like piranhas. We call our kids, piranhas because every where we go in the restaurant they just finished the food super fast. Hahahahah. We used to call them dolphins when we had to feed them, now they are growing so fast.

Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne

We usually avoid going to traditional market when the weather is too hot like in Indonesia and like when we were in Bangkok even when people said the place is fun to go. But, when we went to Queen Victoria Market, the weather was so beautiful and the market was so clean.

The minute we entered the market, we aimed at food and there were lots of people queuing up in front of this stall that sell Dutch Pancake, Poffertjes. You should try it if you go there. Really nice with vanilla ice cream and all!!

I noticed I found many places sell freshly cooked mussels no matter in fancy restaurants or in simple places like you see in this picture. My kids still enjoyed them, even they had to eat them while standing up.

20120908-173328.jpg
If you love cooking, you must be tempted to buy lots of stuff to cook like one of my best friends, Titik whose kids are studying there too. There was also this poultry shop expert which provide hormone free, grain fed, and free chemically processed poultry. The fruits were also beautiful, big and good quality. And the bread and cakes……… A lot of varieties. Warren bought this Mud cake and we tried it on the way home, we regretted it so much that we didn’t buy more. It was the best Mud cake ever. It was moist and not too sweet. For me, it was just right. The worst thing was I totally forgot to take picture because we finished the cake too fast. Hahahaha.

At that time, there was National Science Week which is an annual celebration of science in Australia, an opportunity to join together to enjoy and explore the wonders and benefits of science. My kids, nephew and nieces enjoyed the exhibition so much. They went through every booth eagerly.

Laura, Warren’s sister. She was the reason we chose Australia as our holiday this time. (As I said in my previous post) The public transportation were handy for people with wheel-chair and there were plenty of taxis which provide service to lift the wheelchair with hydrolic. It’s awesome. She’s so happy there.

Melbourne central & State library of Victoria

After we had lunch at Kimi Korean restaurant, we went into Melbourne Central looking around inside the mall. The interesting thing in that mall was there was a dry indoor garden. People was sitting and lying down on the fake grass. Some of them seems like picnic having their meal and snack while enjoying the view outside.

Tiga kali [Setengah Menit] -3x [Half a Minute]

Tiga kali [Setengah Menit] -3x [half a minute]

I got this information from broadcast message in my Blackberry.

Sering kali terjadi seseorang siang nya masih sehat walafiat, tetapi malam nya meninggal. Tidak jarang kita mendengar cerita orang, kemarin saya masih ngobrol dengan dia, kenapa tiba2 dia meninggal?

3 x half a minute is something that doesn’t sound important, but it will decrease lots of sudden deaths! It often happens when somebody looks healthy during the day but suddenly passed away at night. We sometimes hear people say,” Yesterday I still talk to him then why he suddenly he’s now gone already?”

Begitu berdiri, otak kekurangan darah.
The reason is when we wake up at night to go to the bathroom, we go too fast. When we stand up right away, our brain is lack of blood.

Mengapa perlu “3x Setengah Menit”?

Why do we have to practise 3x half a minute? Our ECG ( Electro Cardiogram) rythm is normal in the afternoon but when we wake up at night to go to the toilet, the ECG rythm changes. With a sudden wake up, our brain become anemic and heart failure because of lack of blood.

Para ahli menganjurkan untuk menjalankah “3 xSetengah menit, yakni:
The experts suggest us to practise 3x half a minute, such as:

1. Bila terbangun jangan langsung turun dari tempat tidur, tetapi berbaringlah selama setengah menit;

1. When you wake up, don’t get up from bed immediately. Instead, just lie down for half a minute.

2. Duduk di tempat tidur selama setengah menit;

2. Sit down first on the bed for half a minute.

3. Turunkan kaki, duduk ditepi ranjang selama setengah menit 。

3. Put your leg down and sit on the side of your bed for half a minute.

When 3x half a minute done , our brain will not be anemic and our heart will not experience failure, decrease the possibility of falling down and death in the middle of the night as we often hear.

There was an old man read about this and crying because he regretted why he didn’t know about since long time ago. Two years ago he woke up in the middle of the night going to the toilet and suddenly his head felt like spinning and fell, then it caused him parralized and not being able to get up from bed , and it also wounded him at the back. If he knew about this [3x half a minute], he didn’t have to suffer like this.

Saya harap ini bermanfaat bagi kita semua. Tuhan memberkati.

I hope it’s useful for all of us. God bless you.

Kimi by Korea

It was a rainy day, we were so hungry and we had to pick restaurant. So we picked this Korean restaurant at La Trobe street. The pictures on the window looked so good. And it happened to be pretty good. Across the street is the left side of Melbourne Central. So it’s easy to find if you want to try.

Again, during a chilled weather I ordered a spicy noodle soup ala Korea. Usually we often ate the instant noodle by neongshim:) Every body likes it.

20120902-180232.jpg
This tok poki (rice-cake) captured my eyes. Usually they serve it just with the red sauce but in this restaurant they serve it with yellow noodle, scallion, onion and egg. Yummy……

The fried chicken served beautifully and it was good too.

Yummy Pho Djung, Melbourne

Who wouldn’t like a bowl of beef noodle soup in cold weather? When we arrived in Melbourne, the weather was quite cold, so we ask around what was the best restaurant for Vietnamese noodle soup, pho. Our cousin told us it was Pho Djung. Later I found out not only te Asian likes to go there but the Australian also love their food. It was one of the best Pho I have. Yummy…..
